Gosh, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything on the blog. We kind of have forgotten about this little baby until recently. I actually typed this post two weeks ago, but school life’s been really mean recently. So, here’s spam of some old news from Zero-sum, Ward and Gateau.

Ward
Hayabusa ~Sanada Dengeki Jyou~ by Matsunaga Kuuya
New series by, the mangaka who brought us Tokaidou Hisame and Tokaidou Hisame Kagerou, this fantasy story centers on Sarutobi Sasuke, a ninja and subordinate of Sanada Yukimura. The first chapter talks about Sanada and party being dragged into some riot by female slaves on a ship.
I’m a sucker for all historical drama, and Sengoku Jidai is sort of my forte (All hunky generals fighting for land is <3). SO, I’ll definitely buy this when the tankoubon comes out. Besides, it’s Matsunaga-sensei’s work. It has to be good right?
Remember the post back in April on Inferno ? Well, the series ends with this issue. Does this mean it ends with just 3 chapters?
I just read the first chapter today, released by Wasuretai and I’ve got to say, the pacing of the story is so awkward. The dialogue doesn’t flow properly too. And Kiki what kind of name is that? sounds like such an emo icy ass too. Sadly, I am really disappointed with how the story started out. I understand that Kiki’s trying not to talk to people as much since his words are like curses. I guess I’m getting sick with all these melodramatic protagonist who thinks they’re the messiah of the world or something.
Oh yea, seems like the mangaka is Rino Miki, not Rinno Miki. From the artwork, it seems like they’re two separate artist.
First chapter was published in Ward issue 16 on the 16th of July by the mangaka who did Daidaiboshi and Shima Shima, two very cute series by the way.
Nokkin are people who are able to make magamono by blowing souls into objects. This is another fantasy story centered on a selfish little boy named Momo. One day, Momo invaded the residence of 6 very odd but jolly magamono…
Tashi is a new upcoming mangaka whose other work; Inu to Watashi was also published under Ichijinsha but under Gateau instead. Zero-sum editor blog was promoting this title on an entry, so it must be good right? The tankoubon is out too.
This story is about the life of two very strange housemates; a cheeky kid named Ino and an anti-social grown-up called Roku. Ino, who was passed around from one relative to another, grew up in a city but one day he had to live in a rural area in an old and isolated house with a young man named Roku due to some problems with the relative…

Zero-Sum
Any followers of di[e]ce -ダイスwill be glad to know that the series ended with the latest magazine (November’s issue) with chapter 42 if I’m not mistaken. Even though I’m sad that the series is ending so early, but my pocket’s glad that it doesn’t have to spend more money now.

Seriously, is Zero-sum targeting my pocket these days? What’s with all these historical genres popping out? I’m going to be broke one day. From the summary, it sound like a texting love story happening during Heian, which is seriously cute by the way. What more it’s by D.Kissan. I bet there would be random, tear jerking moments in the manga. I can’t wait for the tankoubon to come out!
Seriously, the only reason I’m reviewing this because of this picture. Aren’t they pretty? Original story is by Miyajima Takumi, Goulart Kishidan is an original animation series made to commemorate Lantis‘ 10 year anniversary. The OVA is scheduled to be released this November.
There was sudden appearance of some mysterious monster called Archon and they’re threatening the existence of human beings. The only people who have the ability to defeat them are in an elite group called Goulart Kishidan who wields the power of the Holy Grail. And the school to cultivate this group is called Goulart Gakuen.

Gateau
I don’t know how many people know this but Ichijinsha has its own BL manga label called “Gateau”. The chapters are published for mobile phones so we won’t be able to buy the magazine. BUT, every title is published in tankoubon format (volumes) so we can buy the books! Here are two that came out last month; there are 3 more titles that came out before these:
Subaru who just entered high school fell in love at first sight with the student council president, Hayato. Professing his love with such vigour, this is the start of his faithful dog life for the sake of “dating”. Is he an errand boy? Or a lover?!
Te wo Tsunaide Koi wo by Takaoka Nanaroku
Takaoka Nanaroku’s other series include Kanojo no Onii-san, Karimen Love Crisis and Usotsuki no Omocha.
The protagnoist, Sekitani due to a minor incident became bitter enemies with Nagashima who’s also in the archery club with him. Unable to tolerate it any longer, captain Tatsumi gave those two an order to “go home every day without letting go of each other’s hand”! Sekitani got to know a new side of Nagashima who’s an honest and simple person. Slowly, he starts to fall in love with Nagashima, but the latter only has eyes for Tatsumi…

Ah! Love! I have heard about Matsunaga Kuuya new work but I didn’t know what it was and seeing this preview OF COURSE I gotta have!! I was terribly sad when Tokaido Kagerou ended T__T… and the ending was not… what I wanted at least between *spoiler: Icchan and Hisame*
I’m actually buying Kakikake to Kenshiin and Inu to Watashi. I was actually a bit iffy since I didn’t know what the inside art would look like but seeing the preview it looks fine to me <3. I was so happy when I first heard of gateau. My favorite publisher having a BL section! But… their BL titles so far aren't all that interesting but maybe they'll get better ones out later…
Just waiting for Mag Garden release their tanks before wrapping up my next shipment…
Oh and just to add… ITS ABOUT SASUKE!? Big fan of the Sengoku period and I LOVE Sengoku Basara and Sasuke is my favorite character from that series! (I mean just look at us… we already done like what…? 4 – 5 projects based on that period alone and 90% of the DJ’s we’ve done are Sengoku Basara) Haha.
*__*! This just shows you guys have good taste in manga! I’m so obsessed with everything Sengoku Jidai, I translated a few books of SDK before I had a fall out with a group. Lol, I think I was such a history otaku then… D:! Sadly I only played Sengoku Basara game…
Nuh! Tokaido didn’t have a good ending?! Or is it another open-ended ending again… I haven’t bought the book yet! *weeps!*
Well, I know I’ll be a sucker for Gateau’s books because of the cover designs. They’re so pretty! So far I haven’t read any from Gateau yet, and I’m not planning to order it online too. I’ll see if Kinokuniya will bring those books in.
Btw, are you planning to collect all of Tashi’s works?
I hope Mag Garden will lower the price of their books (even a tiny little bit it’s fine). I don’t know why but their books are usually thinner and more expensive than the rest!

Well I wouldn't say it ended open-ended. But then again I can't read japanese so I'm just going based off of what I can tell from the pictures. But Icchan and Hisame relationship! That was left too open! TOO OPEN! I have actually scanned all of v04 so if you want to read it I can send you the raws.
I had a translator go through the summary for their newly released tank and they didn't really stand out to me all that much. But I decided to buy the work by Tashi since it was the most interesting one and I like the art cover.
Not really sure if I plan on getting all of Tashi's work or not. I have to see whether the plot can draw me in before I become a fan. But I am getting her latest two works.
I never really notice the price difference on mag garden since I pay a helluva a lot just for shipping… Amazon.jp shipping costs me an arm and a leg… but I recently switch over to ordering from YesAsia where they have free shipping but their manga are more expensive (but still cheaper than the shipping). I don't really have any bookoff or any that type of store near me
I think anime and manga’s giving us the wrong impression of how the generals and soldiers look like during that period. Kageroi sounds interesting. For once Sasuke isn’t overly obsessed with Yukimura.

Damn, if I live anywhere near bookoff, my place would be swarmed with manga and novels. How I wish there’s one in SF =.=!! They have like 4 store just in LA alone, why so many at one place?! I order from yesasia too (I don’t know why people complained about it, I’ve ordered from them a few times and their service’s pretty good), amazon.jp’s shipping is just too steep for me. Sometimes I’ll check jpqueen’s bargain books and have it ship through sea which takes ages to come, but at least it’s cheap. D:
Well I like historical genre in general as well but I really like the sengoku period (and that’s the only period in which I know a little something about haha). But overall historical genre interest me. A lot of our projects we do have historical backgrounds in them.

I’ve only recently over YesAsia about 6 – 7 months ago? Before I ordered everything from Amazon.jp. Before YesAsia manga selection was very limited so I never really pay attention to them. They have a huge manga selection now though so I’m loving them <3. I never had problems with YesAsia though… except they don't have everything I wanted… Like Samurai Drive which I literally paid $95 in shipping cost =.=;; (of course when I order from Amazon I have to buy in large bulks to offset the shipping cost…) but surprisingly I got my shipment the very next day after they email me a confirmation that they shipped out my order… So speedy service I guess… I wouldn't care though I paid half that cost if they take one or two weeks later… I live in San Diego so I'm pretty close to LA… But no matter how cheap and many book offs there are in LA I wouldn't be caught dead driving there. The traffic and crazy drivers are just way too much for me to handle. It's a nightmare to drive to LA.
Hence, I’d love to stalk your group!! Well, I’ll try to with my busy schedule, kinda hard to follow every single scanlators >_<! Thank you so much for picking them up!

LOL, I don’t order from Acclimate Solutions ’cause their website interface isn’t very “cheezy friendly”. Their books isn’t exactly cheaper too, add in the shipping fees… *pukes* Well, there are some crazy people in some forums who rather pay extra for uber fast shipping. Those people have too much moolah to spare!
I actually never heard of Kinokuniya before. I may look into it and see what they have to offer but my orders aren’t usually that big. I had to order a big shipment just because I wanted to offset the shipping cost a bit. (I actually ordered 16 manga that shipment).
I didn’t really care for fast shipping… but since Amazon.jp only offer the fastest and most expensive shipping I had to go with that *sigh*
Well, one thing good about Kinokuniya is that the shipping and handling fee’s already included into the book. It’s roughly the same amount you’re paying on amazon without the shipping fees.
But CA’s sales tax is crazy, so usually I pick up my books from Kinokuniya and use their member discount to get rid of the tax (it’s 10% off purchase). So many ways to order manga XD
But Kinky, think of it this way! Quite honestly Libre title sucks. They are the biggest BL publishing company but I hardly buy anything from them (this is coming from a group that use to do a lot of BL) so I really didn’t care that much about the C&D.

Well, I don’t know why either… OS’s original founder was Ochibi-chan, before she left us and Mioka led the group. But by then, OS’s known for our shoujo projects. So, it’s kinda hard to bring in BL when there were staff who’s against it. Besides, it’s hard to Mioka to bring in BL manga cause of Malaysian’s custom being such a bitch and she’s a little too young to go to Kinokuniya’s counter to order them. All those happened before I was in the group.
But now, we’re starting one BL project as we speak. A gracious soul’s willing to scan a title for us. So, please look forward to it! I get more motivation doing BL than shoujo…
You’re right. Even if I were to get a job in NY, I wouldn’t go there. The air there’s so humid and dirty during summer. The subway’s atrocious too. And traffic… Gosh! Malaysia’s traffic (more like the one in Kuala Lumpur) is just like that.

Tsuguri Kai art is very pretty but to me her plot are … Ehhhh. Since I can't do any titles from Libre anymore I'm probably never buying from them again since I have no interest in buying what I can't scanlate.

I actually started getting into other genres after a few years of only doing BL and my staff weren't really against it. I left the staff options to whether they want to work on BL only or help out with non-BL as well and most of the staff didn't really mind either way so that hurdle was easily overcome.
The only problem is most people still think Bliss is mainly a BL group… which is hardly the case anymore since our non-BL stuff doubles that of BL… It's a bit ironic how I wanted to spread the BL but now I rather garner more support for our non-BL stuff hahaha… I have lots of BL titles that I would be willing to share!

Ehhhhhh? The only series I love from Tsurugi Kai’s Black Knight. I blame the fact that it got licensed when there’s a freaking cliffhanger. Since then I haven’t read the continuation and every time I see the book, I feel the itch to know what’s going on! And sadly, I refuse to buy anymore US published manga since they’re butchered Yasushi Suzuki’s Purgatory Kabuki!
Well, I bet you’ve corrupted enough souls to last for a life time. I love your non-BL titles though, I ended up buying a few of them myself, like Ilegenes. Usually I avoid buying from Avarus no matter how pretty their manga cover are ’cause of the price.
It’s good that you have such flexible staff (and you’re quite flexible too XD). I’ve always catagorise Bliss as “pretty manga” scanlator, instead of BL. ‘Cause most of the titles you’re scanlating have really beautiful art.
Dude you should totally get an account in librarything or booklog.jp. You wouldn’t believe the amount of manga people own in there. D: It’s above thousands! It’s like they buy 2-3 books every single day for the last decade or something. You can be one of the gods in there who I can envy!

I never actually read Black Knight. I dislike buying US licensed manga as well. Scanlators do a much better job.

. Anything with hot bishies and pretty art I’M THERE. I’m only flexible in that area but I have pet peeves where I would refuse projects no matter how good they are. Like how I have a huge bias against bishies wearing glasses so I refuse to do anything that has a main lead wearing glasses.
Haha maybe. But I’m a bit too lazy to move all this info on my LJ to another area… It took me quite a while to set that up back then.
I haven’t actually look through Harizuki yet. I bought that a long time ago and my co-head at that time said the art was boring so I kinda just let it go.

Oh yes! I LOVE Yamamoto Kotetsuko. One of my translator does too and she will doing anything by her so we pretty much will do anything by her.
I was planning on doing Zero Mellow until I saw DP future it so I removed it. To be quite honest I was deeply disappointed with that series. I saw the cover and was like OMFG I NEED THIS NOW! So I rushed an order to get it… only to find the inside art quite disappointing. Maybe because the cover is so pretty it made the inside art not that good I guess. The plot looks good though (I think? I can’t understand anything haha).
Actually a new translator that apply is working on Link right now haha so yes XD.
Yes I really like Ransetsuki! A couple of volumes on amazon.jp is out of stock too I think? I’m glad I ordered the entire series before I ran into that trouble. We actually do have a translator on that project but she works on like 3 other projects as well and Ransetsuki is like at the bottom of her list so yeah…

XD It won’t take you long to update your books in those sites. They have database of books which you can search for and the covers are included most of the time.
Tagging though… is totally another matter.

Well, I sorta knew what type of drawing I'll get from Tagura Tohru. Her story isn’t really interesting, like seriously they’re boring, but I’d pay just for her front cover and that one colour page. Sorry to disappoint you, but the plot isn’t very… interesting…

Yup. I love slice of life type of series so I’m always a sucker for them, especially if it has a cute cover that just screams THIS IS SO GOING TO BE SLICE OF LIFE!!!
I have not look at the art yet so I can’t say. Way back then my co-head was the one who had all the manga because she was the scanner so I never actually seen anything and based projects off her decision. After she left I had her ship some of the manga over to me. She actually owns about 1/4 of the manga in there since back then we were splitting up the cost to buy our projects. I’ll scan you some samples this weekend for you to see.

Almost every single publisher I know of has preview pages, either they put up the whole chapter (like what Rutile does, I read Zero Mellow on their yahoo page before the tankoubon even came out) or they picked out a few pages.
Tagura Tohru has another manga under b’s-log , but the inside and storyline is even crappier than Zero Mellow.
Rutile’s one of my favourite BL publisher too. Not forgetting Lynx, Chara, Opera, sometimes Craft and Hertz! Asuka Ciel has a few titles which I followed obsessively, but meh, usually their storyline reminds me too much of Libre. The plots always follow a certain pattern, it gets boring after a while… Speaking of Lynx, their books are expensive too, especially their novels…
Finally, someone who knows the joys of lil’ overpriced macarons. They’re colourful and oh-so-delicious!

Problem is I don’t know how to read Japanese… Well I do I took 3 semester of it but I’m only proficient at reading hirigana and katakana (though I pretty much forget my katakana all the time) so I can’t really understand anything. I just end up clicking random things until I get to where I want which takes forever!
UGH! I have a seriously love hate relationship with B-Log stuff. Some of it is SO PRETTY. But seriously, the plot is crap. All the stuff I buy from B-Log is pretty… but the story is so boring or uninteresting… OR REVERSE HAREM *BLEH!* Still pissed about Shinobi. I KNEW IT WAS GONNA BE A GIRL!
Lynx has a lot of pretty stuff but I actually don’t buy from them. I don’t think I have anything so far by them… I love stuff by Tousuisha <3! I love my BL fluff xD. I don't follow magazines so I don't know which magazine belongs to which publishing company X.X

I know right! I think with the amount of artbooks I bought, I can get at least 100 manga from amazon.co.jp. D: God, I should stop collecting them but they’re so pretty! And I’m a sucker for background illustrations (and my current major’s matte painting too), so I bought a lot of them.
Well for librarything, the first 200 books you add is free, after that you’d have to pay for add more. Usually I wouldn’t pay for such service, but meh, $25 for a life time account means I’m paying $0.42 per year if I live up to 80. Booklog though is totally free as far as I know, haven’t finish cataloging my books there.
Yeah! I’m so gonna get Mikan Jirou and also Peacemaker Kurogane vol 6!! PMK’s the reason behind my Bakumatsu obsession. Anything Shinsengumi, I’m in. I even followed the NHK’s Taiga drama series. LOL! Okita isn’t as pretty as the one in PMK though…
My Girl’s really fluffy and touching. I don’t remember any humour in there, but you just can’t stop smiling at the little girl and how cute their life is. Even though there are some days that’s quite depressing. That’s the ups and downs of life I guess. Really recommend you to give it a try.

Omg, I seriously hate B’s-log right now!! They’s discontinued Kazuaki’s Kaiyorihito/Kaiyorishiki series right when there’s a cliffhanger!! And 90% of their manga are so craaaaaaaaappy!! I really hate reading otome game adaption!! So far I haven’t read any b’s-log manga with good plot, even for Kaiyorihito… (or even Togainu, now this is overrated…) Sadly, I’ve given into the temptation and bought a few titles from them… LOL, when you sent the Shinobi samples to mio, I LOL-ed at the drawing you’ve scribbles there. I saw Kaiyorihito Kaiyorishiki a while ago… like years ago but back then we were still doing BL so I wasn't really interested in it. JPQueen actually labeled it Yaoi and I was like this does not look like BL to me… Yeah they are. I feel its such a waste of money to buy from B-Log… Nothing is good!!! You know I knew all along deep inside that that was going to be a girl. Because B-Log has screwed me over so many times with their misleading covers. I KNEW AND I WAS RIGHT. Sigh wasted money T__T.
Oh it is. I never realized. I don't really pay attention to BL publishers as much as non-BL (I follow Averus, Zero-Sum, and Square Enix stuff) but other than those three other publishers just kinda murks together…

Usually it’s just animation studio’s artbook (pixar included) or books with bg illustrations.

I’m actually the opposite. I watch anime rather than reading the manga… Even with manga… I’m still way too lazy to read haha. But Gintama is definitely better being animated than read. The fillers are also super funny too that don’t appear in the manga. They even have episodes where they joke about what happens when the anime catches up to the manga haha. I pretty much gave up on Naruto… and Bleach…
